Neville Wakefield
Neville Wakefield, the ubiquitous writer, curator and art-porn producer, is adding yet another employer to that long list. He’s heading to “Playboy” to consult in some kind of marketing capacity for the magazine, although the company’s not saying much more than that. In a statement, public relations VP Theresa M. Hennessey said:
“Playboy’s marketing department will be working with Neville on a consulting basis for special projects for the company. Neville will not be working on any rebranding efforts for the magazine, and there are no planned changes in the magazine’s editorial leadership. Jimmy Jellinek still remains Playboy magazine’s editorial director.”
Presumably that last line is meant to quell rumors that Wakefield was actually going to take over Jellinek’s job.
It seems like a logical move given that Wakefield has already consulted for “W” magazine, curated a show for fashion photographer Mario Testino and helmed the 2010 production of “Destricted,” a compilation of artsy pornographic shorts.
